Ohhio is a small Ukraine-based design studio. It was created in 2015 by Ukrainian designer Anna Marinenko. It all began when a huge skein of merino wool caught her eye, and she started knitting it using her arms instead of needles. Since that fateful day, Anna started selling her blankets online, and the team behind Ohhio increased from one to twenty.
On December 2015, Ohhio successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign and brought chunky knit to the mainstream. Now, Marinenko and her team are back, making hand-crafted decor. They have developed a new crafts material that they call Braid. It started out as a search for a durable, lightweight material that is just as soft as merino wool. When they couldn’t find any, they decided to make their own.
The team offers DIY kits. If you always wanted to learn how to do it, but you couldn’t, because of the steep learning curve involved in making an Ohhio-style blanket… well, now you can. With Braid, creating a chunky-knit blanket or throw is easier than ever. It’s a manageable and versatile material that’s easy to learn and fun to use for crafts lovers of any age.
For those who would like to let their imagination run wild, Ohhio have prepared three lengths of Braid: 20m, 40m, and 80m. They come in four colors: pink, gray, dark gray and blue. You can experience great fun with braids during creating blankets, sweaters, hats, scarfs, cowls and whatever else you may want.
