Explore the Ocean With Your “Personal Sumbarine”

There are many amateurs of underwater sports, and exploration of the deep blue oceans which are still hiding some undiscovered treasures of nature. Unfortunately, the market lacks the affordable equipment that would enable casual enthusiasts to make their dreams come true, without ruining their wallets.

David Lang and Eric Stackpole from OpenROV decided to change it and created a low-cost underwater drone, Trident, which in pre-order costs only $1199. It is fantastic news for all passionate ocean lovers, who now can see the unexplored vastness of oceans in a quality akin to scientific exploration.

Trident is designed to be easily controlled with an intuitive telerobotic control system, which only requires  a web browser and a laptop, tablet or just a smartphone. It also very portable, which is quite a novelty if it comes to such equipment. This underwater drone is small enough to be carried in a backpack or fit under an airplane seat. Moreover, Trident is built in a way that allows you to easily attach your GoPro, payloads or any other additional tools you will need.

This very new way of thinking about underwater drones is going to make underwater exploration more accessible and affordable. Trident is a “personal submarine” that any ocean aficionado should check out!
