Zwift is a turbo trainer game. Its users are able to connect their turbo trainer with a computer, iPad or iPhone and enjoy riding in a virtual environment with other cyclists, which lets them avoid the boredom usually connected with indoor cycling.
Is it better than outdoor cycling? For sure, the app will not replace the feeling of fresh air on your face or the wind in your hair, but it does, indeed, have some advantages over outdoor cycling. When using it, you don’t have to worry about the weather or traffic, and it gives more diversity when it comes to choosing routes. Furthermore, Zwift users won’t experience a lack of company during their training. The app is used by people from 150 countries, so everybody can join group rides and community races, of which there are almost 30 of them a day.
Using Zwift is free for the first 14 days and the membership costs $10 per month. This seems fair, especially since it records your heart rate and cadence, letting you upload it to services like Strava. You can also set up your own avatar, as well as choose between different jerseys and bikes. Likewise, the more achievements you earn, the more outfits, bikes and wheels you can choose from!
With the smart trainers, which let you feel the topography change, and all the awesome features designed to give you the authentic experience of cycling outdoors, Zwift is a perfect solution for all those who want to work out but, for some reason, are not able to do it outdoors.
