Nintendo Switch Revealed!

Just yesterday, the wildcard that Nintendo’s had hidden up their sleeve was finally revealed. Nintendo Switch – as it is called – is a new detachable/portable console that You can take out when walking a dog or boarding an airplane.

How does it work – the main feature of this new gadget? It’s simple as that: You can detach the portable part from the rest of Your console and take it with You. You connect the controller parts to the portable part – and it’s all Yours, ready for a walk. It’s not that it’s not a good home console, though: Nintendo’s emphasizing it that it’s still more of a home device than a portable one, the “detachable/portable” part being just one of its many useful functionalities that we can expect to be delivered.

As for now, there are no specifications available as to the console’s exact rig. From what we’re shown, though, one can presume that it’s going to be quite a powerful one, and certainly capable of running the present generation’s games, The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 4 included.

That’s right: Nintendo is not aiming at making its new console just another niche gadget. The Japan Giant has announced that it has entered into numerous partnerships with some of the most important Western developers – meaning that we can expect no shortage of games. You can rest assured that there will be something more for You on this one than it was on Wii U: it’s not just another platform for Japan RPGs and nothing more.

Among its partners, Nintendo has listed major publishers such as Activision, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, Sega, Square Enix, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, as well as 505 Games, Arc System Works, Atlus, Bethesda Softworks, Codemasters, FromSoftware, Frozenbyte, Koei Tecmo, Level-5, PlatinumGames, Spike Chunsoft, Telltale Games, and THQ Nordic. The list is not the final one – nor is it closed. Meaning: there will be more.

Nintendo Switch is scheduled to release worldwide in March 2017.
